Shufflrr was co-founded by the brother-sister team of James Ontra and AlexAnndra Ontra. The duo have been developing and marketing presentation software together for more than two decades (and still laugh about it). As the technology advanced and their expertise expanded, they found that one thing stayed the same: the fundamental need for enterprises to tell their stories. That’s why Shufflrr was born, and what it lives to do.
As laptops with sight, sound and motion gained traction, so did a need for better presentations. James caught a glimpse of the future and, as head of business development for Micro Interactive’s Iguana and then iXL’s Pitchman, sold some of the first interactive presentation systems. Other notable early adopters of presentation management were IBM, NBC Olympics, Lucent Technologies, British Airways, Cigna, Hilton Hotels, and MGM James Bond.
With a borrowed desk, two phones and licensing rights to the Iguana Presentation system, James and AlexAnndra founded their own company, Ontra Presentations. They cold-called prospects every day for eight hours a day, and within 90 days had landed ABC National Television Stations and Towers Perrin. More clients fanned the flame, and there was no going back.
YouTube democratized digital video, and their software and consulting services business model needed to evolve to fit a new reality. When a client asked “Can you just make it work in PowerPoint?,” they listened and developed their first, user-friendly version of a Slide Library. Called PPTshuffle, it incorporated multimedia assets and synchronized to a central location, ensuring greater ease, efficiency, and compliance in every presentation. Clients loved it.
Ontra evolved into Shufflrr, which integrated the practical knowledge, technology, users, successes and failures built up through the blood, sweat and tears of 30+ cumulative years. The result was an elegant, easy solution that ensures consistent enterprise storytelling, while giving teams a quick way to share, shuffle, and show their content.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought a shift to remote work for even the largest enterprises, and finding ways to effectively collaborate on presentations became even more essential. Shufflrr adapted with new technical requirements and added functionality to help presentations run smoothly, like version-controlled slide update propagation and reuse. The goal: make a difficult time a little bit easier.
AI’s whiplash-inducing growth left enterprises scrambling for solutions to tap into its power – without getting burned. Unlike other presentation platforms, Shufflrr was built with a Slide Library at its core. Since all of an enterprise’s assets are housed in one centralized place, every client’s AI learns from their internal data – not competitors or the internet. It was the start of a revolution in AI presentations. And the journey continues…
